Description
The Sony FX3A Full-Frame Cinema Camera (ILME-FX3A), often referred to as the 2025 updated version of the original FX3, is a highly compact, professional video camera designed primarily for solo shooters, documentary filmmakers, and as a B-cam for larger productions. It blends the high-sensitivity, full-frame capabilities of the Alpha series (like the a7S III) with the specialized Cinema Line features of the FX6 and VENICE.
Sensor & Image: 10.2 MP (effective) full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor (12.1 MP for stills).
Video Recording: 4K UHD up to 120p and Full HD up to 240p, 10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording, and 16-bit RAW output via HDMI.
Dynamic Range & ISO: 15+ stops of dynamic range (S-Log3) with an expanded ISO range of 80 to 409,600 for extreme low-light.
2025 Updates (vs. Original FX3): The “A” model features an improved 2.36M-dot LCD panel (sharper), a new BC-ZD1 dual battery charger, but removes the NFC module and infrared remote sensor.
Compact & Cage-Free: Weighs roughly 715g (with battery and media) and includes built-in 1/4″-20 threaded mounting points, removing the need for a bulky camera cage.
Cooling System: Integrated, silent cooling fan allows for uninterrupted, long-duration 4K 60p recording without overheating.
Audio: Includes a detachable XLR/TRS handle unit for professional audio inputs (2x XLR).
Autofocus & Stabilization: Fast Hybrid AF with real-time eye tracking and 5-axis in-body image stabilization (Active Mode).
