Description
The S1R II is designed to be a premier tool for landscape, commercial, and editorial photographers who also need to produce high-end video. It upgrades the original S1R by adopting a smaller, more ergonomic body similar to the S5 II, while significantly improving speed and autofocus capabilities.
Autofocus Evolution: By introducing Phase Hybrid AF, the S1R II resolves the speed and tracking limitations of the older contrast-detection systems, making it suitable for sports and wildlife, supported by AI detection for a wider range of subjects.
Video Powerhouse: As the first Lumix camera to offer 8K internal recording, it is a significant step up, allowing for massive cropping options in post-production. The 6.4K/8.1K Open Gate functionality provides immense flexibility for producing content for multiple aspect ratios simultaneously.
Workflow Enhancements: The camera supports direct-to-SSD recording via USB-C for high-bitrate, long-form shooting. It is also the first Lumix camera to support native Capture One tethering, making it highly efficient for studio, commercial, and portrait photography.
Hardware Refinements: A new “shutter close” function protects the sensor from dust during lens changes. The 3.0-inch screen now features a tilt and free-angle mechanism, providing flexibility without interfering with cables.
