Description
The Canon EOS R50 V is designed for creators who need a compact, lightweight (approx. 370g) camera that bridges the gap between smartphone convenience and professional video quality. While it is based on the same 24MP APS-C sensor as the original R50, the “V” variant is modified for easier, solo-operated video production. It supports long recording times, up to 2 hours, making it ideal for, podcasting, and live-streaming, with UVC/UAC compatibility allowing it to act as a 4K webcam.
Key, “creature comforts” for vloggers include a screen that flips forward for selfie-style framing and a dedicated “Color” button to quickly change the aesthetic of the video without heavy post-production. The camera also supports 4-channel audio and includes both a 3.5mm microphone input and a headphone jack. Although the camera lacks in-body image stabilization (IBIS), it uses electronic Movie IS to steady footage. It is frequently sold with the RF-S 14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens, which offers power zoom functionality for smooth, cinematic zooming, controllable via a dedicated rocker on top of the camera.
