China version – please read before buying
- Operating system: HarmonyOS (China). This is not Android – Google Play and Android apps cannot be installed, so apps such as WhatsApp, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and UK banking apps are generally not available. Apps come from Huawei AppGallery (China) only.
- Contactless payments: Google Pay / Google Wallet tap-to-pay is not available or not guaranteed on China-version phones.
- UK networks: Huawei does not publish the network bands for this China model; unofficial listings for the Mate 80 series show 4G B1, B3, B7, B8, B20 (800MHz) and B28 (700MHz) and 5G n8, n28 and n78, but no 5G on n1, n3, n7 or n20. This is not guaranteed. VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling depend on your network supporting imported phones.
- Charger: Any charger in the box is a China-market charger and will usually need a UK plug adapter.
